Katy Bowen-Roberts - Creator, Producer & Director
Raised on Vancouver island, Katy has established herself as a vocal performer both in Canada and Europe. She trained at UBC where she achieved a BMus. Select performance credits include Musetta in La Boheme (Czech Republic), Lauretta in Gianni Schicci (London, UK), Serpetta in Die Gartnerin Aus Liebe (Germany), Lead vocalist in the Thursford Christmas Spectacular (Norfolk, UK) and at the Port Theatre, Anna in The King and I, Yum Yum in The Mikado and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. She produced the Port Theatre’s 10-year anniversary celebration show and also co-created and produced "Blackstones & Bathtubs" in celebration of Canada’s 150th year.
Katy lives with her family in the Comox Valley. She has a BEd from VIU and is currently a music teacher at a French Immersion school in SD71. Additionally Katy runs a Musical Theatre club at the school for students aged 8 - 12yrs. This year Katy is excited to finally be returning to the McPherson Playhouse in Victoria after a forced three year hiatus! She is thrilled to be working with the talented professional artists of British Columbia once again this December for the 15th annual production of the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular. |
James Mark - Music Director, Arranger & Violinist
James was born and raised in Nanaimo and completed his undergraduate degree in music at York University. James earned his Masters degree in violin performance and composition at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) where he went on to become a faculty member teaching theory and musicianship. Currently, James is a Professor of Music in the music department at Vancouver Island University. He teaches many core courses at VIU but is most excited about growing the music technology offerings that currently include: Introduction to Home Recording, Studio Recording, Digital Music Notation and History of Film Music. James is also a core member of the Vancouver Island Symphony and is continually working as an arranger and composer. James has been the arranger, musical director and violinist for the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular since its inception in 2007.

Lindsay Sterk - Choreographer & Co-Director*

Lindsay has performed and taught throughout Canada. He has been owner and Artistic Director of Pantuso Dance for the past sixteen years in Courtenay where his school was awarded Small Business of the Year by the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce and has received numerous accolades. His musical theatre credits include roles with the Arts Club, Showcase Festival, Chemainus Theatre Festival, Gateway Theatre and Vancouver Playhouse. Highlights include “Hero” tapper in the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies and Don Lockwood in Singin’ in the Rain for Theatre Under the Stars. Theatre choreography credits include: Newsies, Urinetown, Chicago, Catch Me If You Can, Fiddler on the Roof, Thoroughly Modern Millie, West Side Story, Shrek and Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and Crazy for You. As an adjudicator and teacher he has worked across Canada with credits including Harbour Dance Centre, Van Tap Dance Society, Capilano College and several other West Coast studios. In 2015, Lindsay was awarded the West Coast Tap Collective's Teacher Scholarship which took him to New York City to study at the Manhattan Tap Intensive with Heather Cornell. Lindsay is absolutely thrilled to be returning for his sixth season with YPCS! Love to Nicole and my boys who are everything to me. |
Robinson Wilson - Lighting Designer
Robinson is a theatre director, designer and writer based on Vancouver Island.
Lighting Design: Vancouver Island University, Theatre One, Touchstone/ Carousel, Arctic Action, as part of the Nord-Norges Festspillene Theatre Festival in Harstad, Norway. Since 2010, Lighting Designer-in-residence for Courtenay Youth Music Centre, whose 2019 lighting design of Rent was featured in Roscolux's Spectrum Blog. Fight Direction: Arctic Action (Norway), 360 STUNT (Copenhagen), and the Nordic Stage Fight Society (Stockholm), Ahaettuatridi Iceland. Canada and North America: fight choreography and motion capture performance work for Final Fantasy: Kingsglaive, and Fight Director and Creative Consultant for Bard on the Beach's 30th anniversary season. Ongoing projects include continued theatre mentoring and design at VIU, where in 2017 he premiered his adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. |
Steve Adamson - Sound Engineer
Starting at the age of 17, Steve has been involved in live sound for 20 years. Owner and operator of VI Sound for 10 years and a technician at Nanaimo's Port Theatre since 2009. He has been responsible for providing sonic support for a wide variety of productions with artists including The Tea Party, Carly Rae Jepson, Aaron Pritchett, Jojo Mayer, Vancouver Island Symphony and many more.
